“Easter Egg Hunt attracts over 70 children to enter the fun.

On Saturday 3rd April 2010 the Blackrock Shopping Centre hosted the first Easter Egg Hunt for some years and it was the first to be organised and managed by Active Facilities & Property Management Ltd since being awarded the contract to manage the Centre in May 2008.

The Centre Manager (Jim Haveron) devised a competition to make the hunt a little bit challenging for the children and, as it turned out, for the parents too!

The entry form that parents had to complete for their children contained four questions (with clues) to direct the children to four shops within the Centre. The participating shops were; Best Wishes/Hallmark, Liuzzi, Michael H and Ruby Couture. Three of the clues were based on the classic film, Wizard of Oz, and the fourth was the Easter Bunny. Children had to visit each shop (with parent in attendance) and match the clue in the shop with the clue on the entry form.

Having visited all shops the entry form was returned to the organiser whereby, at 4pm, a raffle draw was held for a prize. The prize was an impressive Easter Egg basket, valued at approx €80, which was kindly donated by Leonidas and presented to the winning children; Iona and Sophie Hamilton of Dun Laoghaire (see photo).

Our thanks to all 76 children who participated and, of course, their parents who seemed very pleased with the organisation of the event and the bag of Easter eggs that the children received at each of the shops for them having identified the clues.

The event was supported by entertainment provided by KaBoom (www.kaboom.ie) comprising of face painters, the Mad Hatter, a balloon modeller and a disco/karaoke/puppeteer. The entertainment was very much appreciated by the families, shoppers and visitors who were fortunate enough to visit the Centre to enjoy some pleasant weather and our legendary Blackrock Centre Welcome.

It is hoped that with the success of this event that the Hunt will return next year and hopefully so will the children in their droves!
